Filmstock is an event established in 2023 for film photographers to meet up and partake in community events and activities. As 2023 was the inaugural year, they had not set in place a fully built brand system. The goal of this project was to conceptualize a completed brand system for Filmstock 2024.

The brand embraces analog in all aspects as film photography is an analog medium itself. Vintage typography and color palettes from the 50’s and 60’s build the brand alongside the usage of a traditionally screen printed feel.

LOGOS & COLORS

The logo uses a responsive system that adapts to maximize legibility across different sizes and use cases. Additionally there are alternate variations of the logo that resemble a classic film canister. These canister logos can be used in isolated settings such as merch, social media icons or other simple printed materials.

The colors were revised from those originally used in the Filmstock 2023 logo, which directly referenced Polaroid's brand colors. The new palette has clearer color differentiation which allows for a much more vibrant brand system.

Typography &
ILLUSTRATIONS

All of Filmstock's typography is set in OHNO's Obviously Variable typeface. The type grows or shrinks to stretch across its canvas.

Hand-lettering and Illustrations are included using a bitmapped screenprinted look.

Brand in Motion

When the brand system is used in motion, it makes use of the variable nature of OHNO Obviously, shrinking and growing as more content fills the canvas. When multiple bitmapped illustrations are introduced, they also maintain an appropriate sense of scale.
